Never After

I lost a shoe,

I don’t want anybody to find it,

anybody to take it,

anybody to try it on.

Polished with a long kiss

it left without saying goodbye

stomping,

caressing my feet.

My shoe was not exactly comfortable.

You don't always like comfortable things. Do you?

I just liked it because it covered my left foot,

because I felt like it.

Without assuming,

Without feeling,

Without believing anything

it went up stairs to my balcony,

and tickled me.

It wrapped the cold

and took me to dance.

Beyond midnight

it took a shortcut to the spring.

It took the silence

waiting for the sun

it watched me

from afar.

And so, it was how I lost it, or rather,

how it lost my foot, my ride.

How from that night

I didn't hear anything else about it.
